Luggage Transfer Terms & Conditions

1. Overview

These terms govern all luggage transfer services provided by Rouve and its approved service partners.

By booking a luggage transfer, you agree to these terms.

2. Service

Rouve arranges secure collection, transportation and delivery of luggage between approved locations including airports, hotels, residences and other designated collection points.

Services are subject to operational availability.

3. Customer Responsibilities

Customers must:

  • Provide accurate pickup and delivery details.
  • Be available during the agreed collection window.
  • Ensure luggage is securely packed.
  • Clearly label all bags.
  • Ensure luggage does not contain prohibited items.

Failure to meet these requirements may result in delays or additional charges.

4. Prohibited Items

The following items may not be transported:

  • Firearms or ammunition
  • Illegal substances
  • Hazardous materials
  • Explosives
  • Flammable goods
  • Perishable food
  • Live animals
  • Cash
  • Jewellery
  • Passports
  • Important legal documents
  • Prescription medication required during travel
  • Fragile artwork
  • Lithium batteries exceeding airline regulations

Customers remain responsible for any prohibited contents packed in their luggage.

5. Weight & Size Limits

Each booking includes the baggage allowance specified during booking.

Oversized or overweight baggage may:

  • incur additional charges,
  • require specialised transport, or
  • be refused.

6. Collection & Delivery

Customers must ensure someone is available at the agreed collection and delivery locations.

Waiting beyond the agreed collection period may incur additional charges.

7. Delays

While every effort is made to deliver luggage on time, delays may occur due to:

  • weather,
  • airline disruptions,
  • customs inspections,
  • road conditions,
  • security procedures,
  • force majeure.

Rouve will communicate delays as soon as reasonably possible.

8. Loss or Damage

Customers should inspect luggage immediately upon delivery.

Claims must be submitted within 48 hours of delivery.

Compensation may be limited in accordance with applicable law and the value declared during booking.

Rouve is not liable for:

  • normal wear and tear,
  • improperly packed luggage,
  • prohibited items,
  • valuables packed contrary to these Terms.

9. Insurance

Customers are encouraged to maintain comprehensive travel insurance covering baggage loss or damage.

Where optional baggage protection is offered by Rouve, its terms will be provided during booking.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, Rouve's liability shall be limited to direct losses arising from proven negligence and any applicable compensation limits disclosed at the time of booking.
